Ken Giddens Passes Away
1 November 2005, greg @ 8:35 pm

I’ve just returned to the office for a little late work and found a very disheartening email in my inbox. In it I am told that Ken Giddens has died and it is very depressing. Prior to June 17th, 2005 I had never heard of Ken. I was at a conference in Atlanta and Ken happened to be one of the speakers. What did I know about Ken? Nothing. We happened to end up talking to each other at a pre-dinner mixer the first night of the conference. When it was time to sit down, we just moved to a table and kept talking. Having no idea at the time who Ken was it was no big deal to me. It didn’t take too long for me to figure out that half the people in the room wanted to sit at our table. Ken struck me as unassuming and somewhat quiet and I think he liked to portray that persona. When I heard Ken speak the next day, I was fully and completely impressed. His candor and humor were absolutely enjoyable, especially the story of getting thrown out of Googles offices. The man was a master communicator and he certainly was one of the best Internet Marketers of our day.

It has been said that one way to tell how many friends a person has is to see how many people listen to him. By that measure, Ken had many thousands of friends, me included.

RIP Ken Giddens, you were a prince…
