It had to happen sooner or later what with AMD beating the snot out of Intel in the multi-core arena for nearly three years now. I have made it no secret that I really like AMD. The biggest reason being they have superior technology at a great price. I also really like Dell for pretty much the same reason. Now as soon as they have AMD powered desktop machines they will get our desktop business as well.
What about you. Does this announcement affect your server purchase decisions?
“Online jewelry retailer Ice.com has agreed to pay $6,500 in civil penalties for alleged violations of the CAN-Spam Act, under a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. Ice.com CEO Shmuel Gniwich attributed the violations to a technical glitch arising when the retailer switched to a new e-mail system.” Read More…
All of us etailers should pay attention to this one as it looks like the some courts are taking the CAN-Spam Act very seriously. Of course, as many have predicted, CAN-Spam has done nothing to curb the amount of real spam that gets pumped into our mail boxes each day. We have 103 spam emails processed by our email system in the last 10 hours. For a small company like ours, that is alot of junk mail.
How is spam affecting your computers/company?
Michael Robertson has been pumping his Ajax applications for several weeks now and I finally got around to spending a few minutes with them and I have to say they are very impressive. Nothing to install on your computer, you just launch and go. The applications are very light which means they load in seconds and they are surprisingly powerful. And did I mention they are free? Yes, free, as in free beer. No sign-up or registration(except eyespot), no email address, just click-n-run. To date, the application that are available are Ajax Write, Ajax Sketch, Ajax XLS (viewer only at this time), Ajax Tunes (very cool), Eyespot (video editing-may be 3rd party). There is even an Ajax enabled GNU/Linux based(Linspire) OS in the works.
So are these truly Free Microsoft Office applications? You be the judge. Take them for a test drive and let me know what you think!
“A class-action lawsuit was filed Monday against Yahoo and unnamed third-parties, accusing them of “syndication fraud” against advertisers who pay Yahoo to display their ads on search results and on partner sites, reports Brian Krebs on the Washington Post’s Security Fix blog” Read more…
Yet another reason to be very, very concerned about the $$ you spend on PPC Advertising.

“MSN Live is now powering Amazon’s Alexa and A9 search results instead of previous search partner Google, reports Search Engine Lowdown’s Garrett French (via MarketingVox), citing Aaron Wall at Thread Watch and others. Previously, Alexa’s search results were essentially Google results – tweaked by user data from the Alexa toolbar and post-search refinement buttons.” Read more..
